Be Well Medical Group is expanding access to adult healthcare services across Alaska through statewide telehealth, with an emphasis on continuity, accessibility, and long-term relationships between patients and their healthcare provider. The practice is currently in-network with Alaska Medicaid, Aetna PPO, Moda Health, and Curative.
Care is led by Isaac Berlin, MSN, FNP-C, a board-certified family nurse practitioner with additional fellowship training in psychiatry and addiction medicine. Berlin’s clinical approach centers on continuity, shared decision-making, and understanding the broader context of a patient’s health rather than treating each concern in isolation.
For many Alaskans, accessing healthcare can mean navigating long distances, limited local availability, changing clinicians, or finding that a provider who manages one health concern cannot address another. Those barriers can be particularly significant for patients seeking mental health treatment, treatment for substance use disorders, or gender-affirming care.
Be Well Medical Group was built around a different model: meeting patients where they are and developing care around the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit into a narrow healthcare system.
Continuity is central to that approach. A patient’s healthcare needs rarely exist in isolation, and they often change over time. Anxiety or depression may intersect with sleep, physical health, relationships, work, substance use, or other concerns. Hormone therapy may be one part of a much broader healthcare picture. Recovery from opioid use disorder may require medication, ongoing monitoring, and a stable clinical relationship that continues well beyond the first appointment.
The goal is to create a setting where patients can build that relationship over time rather than repeatedly starting over.
Through its Alaska mental health services, Be Well Medical Group provides evaluation and medication management for a range of common mental health concerns. The practice also provides Suboxone and buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder, helping expand access to evidence-based addiction treatment through telehealth when clinically appropriate.
Be Well Medical Group also provides gender-affirming care for adults throughout Alaska, including hormone therapy and ongoing monitoring. For LGBTQIA+ patients, establishing care with a clinician who understands both gender-affirming treatment and broader health needs can reduce the fragmentation that often occurs when different aspects of care are separated across multiple systems.
The practice serves adults from many different backgrounds, communities, identities, and life circumstances. Its model is not based on a single type of patient. Instead, care begins with understanding what matters to the individual, what has or has not worked before, and what is realistically sustainable.
Telehealth cannot eliminate every barrier facing Alaskans, nor is it appropriate for every medical need. It can, however, make consistent outpatient care more accessible for people who might otherwise face geographic, scheduling, transportation, or provider-availability barriers.
By combining statewide telehealth access with broader continuity of care, Be Well Medical Group aims to give more Alaska adults something that can be surprisingly difficult to find: a clinician who knows their history, understands their priorities, and can continue working with them as their healthcare needs evolve.
